Overview
Koi River distils the tranquility of fresh water, capturing the soundless rhythm of the life therein. Koi carp noiselessly meander just below the surface of a crystal-clear mountain lake, the pleasing repetition of their reticulated scales and the slight ripples they create giving a gentle regularity and mesmeric quality to the composition. The fine pen-work is iridescent, with subtle tonal shifts giving a sense of balance and dimension to the complex of patterns. Printed as a series of panel onto a metallic non-woven paper, inks applied in such a way as to appear crisp, whilst reflecting light with a gentle blur evoking the quality of a water.
