Overview
Burleigh launched their blue Asiatic Pheasants collection in 1862 and it remains one of their most iconic and versatile patterns. We have re-worked this classic design, featuring elegant birds and beautiful florals, into a handsome stripe, traditionally printed using Gravure rollers to achieve the same fine level of detail as the original delicate motif. Available in two colors, a soft ‘China Blue’ to mimic the hand-made pottery, and a more contemporary ‘Navy’.

Additional Info
Barneby Gates was established in 2009 by childhood friends, Vanessa Barneby and Alice Gates, whose lives have interwoven since the age of ten. After graduating together from Edinburgh University, their careers took them separate ways.
Vanessa spent five years at House & Garden magazine before taking the role as Living Editor at British Vogue, where predicting trends in design, styling shoots and examining the correlation between fashion and interiors were all part of the job.
Alice studied figurative painting in Italy before achieving an MA at the City & Guilds of London Art School. She went on to collaborate with a number of fashion brands, designing prints for ready-to-wear collections.
In 2009 the stars realigned, and the girls decided to pool their experience and set up a print design studio, first from a small space in West London and now based in Wiltshire’s Vale of Pewsey. Combining Vanessa’s stylist’s eye and Alice’s painterly touch, their range of idiosyncratically English designs give classical ideas a contemporary edge using pops of color, subtle metallic finishes and occasionally a wry touch of humor.
